DRY JANUARY...
2024 has started 🤩 A new year with new opportunities and adventures. I wish everyone all the happiness 🍀, love ❤️ and health 🌱.
If you also need a fresh start after these festive months, join Dry January! A month without alcohol, to start the year full of energy, both physically and mentally. To give you a helping hand, here are some tips 😊 to better stick to this alcohol-free month.
I also use these tips every day, even after 10 years of sober/clean 🤩. They have really become part of my life.

Here are some tips for a successful Dry January:
Tell those around you that you won't drink for a month. People around you may offer you alcohol, so know what you say.
Find a buddy, someone who will join you. Don't have a buddy? There are also options online. For example Ikpas.nl or ask your questions on a forum such as Alcoholdebaas,nl
Think about your alcohol consumption. Why do you need it and do you really need it?
A slip? Don't give up right away, but learn from it. Why did this happen?
Reward yourself with small gifts. For example, a lovely walk in nature, a (trial) yoga lesson, a sauna visit, massage, a nice book.
Plan fun outings such as bowling, mini golf, cinema, a delicious high tea or look online to see what there is to do in the Netherlands.
TIPS IN SHORT:
listen music and dance and jump in the living room
sing along to your favorite songs
do yoga/meditation/breathing exercises
go for a walk in nature
listen to inspiring podcasts
read a nice book
go to the sauna
make a special non-alcoholic drink and have a small party
set your alarm an hour earlier
What has also helped me enormously is a fixed morning routine, which breaks through ingrained patterns that no longer do you any good.
Yvonne's morning routine:
5.30 am alarm clock (just with your sleeping head, don't shower yet and such, that will come later)
I put on something and go to the living room with my sleeping head.
I take a shot of Paulies Ginger, aaahhhh delicious.
I roll out my yoga mat and do 15 - 30 yoga sessions (I usually do yoga via Boho Beautiful via YouTube or via the Boho app). Or I do a yoga flow or flow session via the MeditationMoments.nl app.
I put on my headphones and do a meditation, I often do this via the Meditation Moments app (this is not an advertisement, this is just an app that I want to share with you 😀). The meditations "Start the day with peace" or "Start the day with gratitude" work extremely well.
Take a nice shower.
